I agree, if God exists and is all powerful, surely he could make it clear. I pointed out to a Mormon once - so you are telling me God cares whether you drink hot beverages, but he doesn't care about the millions starving to death?

on many posts by those with experience of df or da shunning, it look to me that the most fanatical observers of the shunning practise are mothers, and when a person approached parents about their own doubts or intentions, approaching the mother the most daunting prospect .
odd that visiting warwick leaflet has a picture of a meeting of some sort with a room comprising men only, given the subordinate role given to women, one might think they would be more liberal over shunning close ones, but not so.. what drives this, is it grabbing an opportunity to be more visible by their loyalty, or low level of education of a lot of dubs so that the sisters blindly accept direction or authority.
i might have expected some kick back against the shunning practise by sisters giving evidence to their independence of thought.. our real thinkers here will be able to explain this fanaticism of loyalty better.
My sister and her husband are horrible to their disfellowshipped child. She goes out of her way to be cruel. Even my very in parents think it is over the top, the way she acts. Her husband just goes along with her.

after much consideration, examining science, history and using logic, i have come to the conclusion that there is no "god" at least certainly no loving, personal "god.

I,too, have found peace in it. I no longer have to subscribe to some arbitrary rules, ever changing, to try to gain favor. I don't have to judge others on whether they are worthy of my or Gods love. I can just love people, mistakes and all. That's really all anyone wants is to be loved and accepted for who they are, without religion/ God involved its do much easier. Whatever happens at the end of this life, I have no control over anyway.
i just wanted to share a perspective related to my experience with leaving the jw.
at this point, i have been df'd since i was 18. i'm 25, happily married with 2 fantastic children.
after being miserably at odds with my parents and extended family, i've come to some realizations as follows.. i struggled with the conditional nature of my parent's love- talking to me until it bothered their conscience, then cutting me off.
So glad the hear of your decision. Your children can also learn from this decision. They can learn to not be manipulated into giving up their own happiness to please someone else. I hope you find peace in this decision.

i do get angry because so many believe the lies spewed by the Watchtower, in doing so ruin their own lives and those of their families. I no longer need anyone to run my life for me, I've got it handled, and am happy. But being angry occasionally at injustices heaped upon people I care about, is normal, you should try it sometime, just being normal. Good luck to you in your condemnation and judgement of everyone and everything, it sounds delightful.

Flipper - it's funny that you think Trump is insulting to Obama, but you don't see how Obama has insulted Trump? Or how the media has insulted everyone who doesn't go along with their agenda?
Respect goes both ways. If both sides were more respectful (L&R), and if the media and Trump were each respectful of the other, there would be more peaceful relations.

Also Trump is running the place like a business. In my business we exclude people we don't like, we don't work with people who have screwed us over.
I think Trump needs to grow thicker skin and realize that in some respects he can't run the country like a business. That being said - a little respect on both sides would help the situation.

No need to rethink - Trump has not banned the media. He excluded a couple from his briefing. The vast majority were not excluded. Obama did the same thing to Fox News and I didn't hear anyone making an uproar back then.
The sky is not falling - Trump will not ban the media. The news media is still not owned or controlled by the government.
Edited to add: I think the media using the word ban to report this story is to trigger people into hysterics. Maybe Trump was just in no mood for their shit yesterday. Kind of how I am getting tired of the Chicken Littles, every move Trump makes, the sky is falling.

I lost a lot of blood during my surgery. The Dr said lets wait a day and check your hemoglobin levels to see if you need a transfusion. We waited a day and my hemoglobin levels rebounded, so I didn't get a transfusion. Drs don't automatically give transfusions, or push them if they aren't needed.
